Founded by Julian Johnson with a mission to protect the historic Hungerford Property being sold, our organization has since grown into a full-fledged movement to protect Eatonville Florida's unique history, people, and legacy. In 1887, Eatonville became the first self-governing all-black municipality in the U.S.
